Are you a Connector, Collector or a Jerk?

When you go out networking it’s important to realize that you should set goals before

#1 Joining a group and

#2 Before each meeting once you join a group.

What are your intentions when you go out Networking?

We divide them into 3 categories: Connectors, Collectors and Jerks.

Connectors: People who go out with a “What Can I do for YOU..” attitide not What Can I get. They only hand out cards when they have a real interest in someone and their business.

Collectors: Need I say more… also commonly know as spammers… how many cards can I get and dump in my database and spam with info!

Jerks: These are the bottom feeders… people who walk around handing out business cards without even introducing themselves. They think that they are great and that everyone should know them… in love with their EGO.

Some key strategies when it comes to NETWORKING:

1. Choose groups that give you VALUE and that are your target demographics.
2. Attend every week religiously: You must give it at least 6 – 12 months before the referrals truly start to flow – hey, people have to trust you!
3. Always have business cards with you!
4. Do not give out a business card unless you get one.
5. People don’t judge you by your product or service, rather by your actions SHOW-UP & FOLLOW-UP.
6. You GOAL at each meeting is to present something different about you every time so that people get to know you and your business.
7. Focus on the PAIN/PLEASURE that the people around the table may have and supply the solution!
8. 2nd Goal is to have 1 – 2 people come and talk to you from each meeting – strategizing and targeting are important.
9. Do you make key CONNECTIONS at every meeting.
10. The most important part is FOLLOW-UP. The acronym to this is FU – if you don’t follow-up that is truly what you are saying to your prospect/client.
11. Keep FOLLOWING-UP until you get a YES or NO – do not judge why people are not calling back or take it personally. You want to grow your business so keep doing the Follow-Up.
