Being a Rhino in Business

Posted on

Not only should you frequently wear a Teflon suit, but you should also ensure it is a thick suit that does not allow things to penetrate it. You have to have a thick skin, like a rhino.

As you grow your business, you have to develop a thicker skin and let things bounce off you. As entrepreneurs, one of the key areas that sometimes hinders us is that our family focuses too much on trading hours for dollars, or they believe we should be doing something else with our lives. The life of an entrepreneur is all about trading many hours in the beginning for few dollars, and as you grow and become extremely successful, you trade few hours for many dollars. I suppose you could call this the entrepreneurial dream! The only way you achieve this, though, is by having a plan!

There will always be people in your life whose words will impact you deeply, and you have to decide if you want to listen to them. You may be told that you are not successful after a few months and that you should just get a job, or they may tell you that your business idea is flawed, etc. You have to be able to handle comments from people, even those close to you, and stay true to your plan.
