Self-Awareness and Self-Observation

As you begin your journey as an entrepreneur, the most important first step is to develop the right mindset. When I talk about your mindset, I’m talking about the way that you think, because the way that you think will dictate the results that you get in your business. I believe that your thoughts completely control your destiny in every aspect of your life. Thoughts are energy, whether conscious or subconscious, and what you put “out there” will show up in your life. This is known as the law of attraction. Our life experiences as children and the habits we inherited from our parents or siblings dramatically impact who we are as adults and how we approach things, even as an entrepreneur.

Your thoughts completely dictate what is showing up in your life right now!

I hear thousands of different life-impacting statements every single day that hinder people from achieving the success they deserve, and the sad part is most people do not even realize it.

Here are a few key examples:

  • I am not good at that.
  • It’s tough in our industry right now!
  • I cannot remember names.
  • I hate looking at my numbers.
  • People never return my phone calls.
  • I am not good at doing videos.
  • It’s hard to find profitable clients.
  • Our business is seasonal and we are slow in…
  • The economy has changed.
  • I don’t like sales or selling.
  • I keep on getting tough clients!
  • I don’t have the success formula.
  • What you teach does not work in my industry.
  • Mondays are put-out-fire days!

It’s very simple. Until you start reframing these statements, you will continue to attract them into your life and business and will keep achieving the same results. Because your mind does not know right from wrong, it will just give you what you say and think about most.

So the first step to developing an entrepreneurial mindset is to simply become more self-aware. What kinds of things do you find yourself saying or thinking? Do they support your success in your business and your life, or do they sabotage it?

You can use this self-awareness in every aspect of your life and business. The more self-aware and self-observant you become about what you are saying and thinking, the more you will increase the success in your own life. You have to realize that nine out of ten thoughts are negative in the society we live in, and keeping your thoughts positive takes a ton of self-awareness and corrective action. Many of us often do not even realize how negative our own words are. Sadly, what we are saying is what is showing up in our lives and businesses.
